I'm curious.

The humble Opinel has been talked about on this forum many times, and I get the idea many of you have them.

How many of you have and carry an Opinel on a regular basis?

How and when did you discover this low buck but effective cutter?

I have a carbon steel Opinel. Don't carry it very often but use it to eat fruit a lot at home. I like it a lot. I got it for my birthday one year. Tried it on steak recently, worked better than the serrated steak knife I was using.

where can I look at one?I have heard about them alot, but wouldn't recognise one .I think I might like to have one for the tackle box and spare for the backpack.

I have a #6 stainless that I keep in my lunchbox along with a Snow Peak titanium fork and spoon set. I also have a #6 carbon on order.

Have a #6, #7 and #8, all in carbon steel. I use the #6 the most, and I use them when I want a beater knife, or want a knife with a lock to complement my SAK.

I wouldn't own one. They're ....cheap! The "floozy" of knives.

I have one, my history teacher in High School in the 80's was a knife collector, he first introduced me to Opinels.

Great knives for a great price.

I have two #8 stainless (one in rosewood), one #7 carbon and one of the slender blade models (stainless blade, rosewood handle), I don't carry them much but I do used them around the house.

So is that a picture of your "floozy"?

I just bought one last week and i keep it in my glove compartment and use it when i need a beater knife. Great knife for the price.

I've got a carbon #8 which I only really use at home. I got it cheap at HoK and it has to be one of the sharpest knives I own.

I don't use any of my knives regularly since I have over 70 and I try to use them all. However, I definitly use my Opinel No. 6 as much as any of my other knives.

I have a half dozen of them, most of them with blades and/or handles modified by me; I don't EDC them, but have a No.10 I use in the garage and garden, and a No.12 I take camping. I discovered them from references here on BladeForums, in fact.

Of COURSE not! Ya think I'm CHEAP?!?!?!? That's my CUSTOM French (or "Freedom") folder with the bee-yoo-tee-ful hand carved oak special carved boat handle.

:D

I have a No. 10 inox but I dont EDC because it cannot be opened with one hand and lacks a clip. However, the Opinel always goes fishing with me and along with a salt they're a great boating combination.

edit: I found out about them thanks to this site.

I have about five carbon steel Opinels and one stainless blade with a rosewood handle. I throw them in toolboxes or in the glove compartment. I EDC'd them for awhile but stepped up to nicer stuff.

Great little knives.
