Has anyone bought one of the Opinel in the raw knives yet? If so what did you do to the handle? Thought it might be a fun project for a few bucks.

I've had a lot of fun with these, made several. Just bear in mind if you make a working handle you'll need to expose the blade where the nail notch is whilst leaving enough material to bury the tip of the blade:)

Have fun:)

very cool AS. also...love that "hand chair". good stuff. thanks for pics.

I hate the handles on what i consider a great blade and they never ride in my pocket like a NORMAL knife. Ive thought about modding a few like Ive seen on this forum in the past. I have hopes for the raw.

AVOIDSPAM - those are very nice. Your giving me ideas!

I did this to a standard Opinel to give it a sodbuster style handle with trapper blades

had no idea the raw version even existed I'm definatly bagging one to have a play...

Nice work, guys! Corso, very neat! I'd like to try a trapper with a clip and straight blade... I was thinking that the pruner knife could easily be turned into a sheepfoot or wharncliffe. Did you use two No. 8?

In case anyone hasn't seen them this is how they come to you.

They come in Walnut, Cherry and Maple over here.

Oh yeah, you want to leave the material behind the lock ring intact too as this influences how well the ring works:)
