Opinel vs Case Sodbuster

As much as it pains me to say it, aesthetics aside, I'm beginning to lean towards the stainless Opinels, the 12C27 Sandvik, holds and takes a grand edge, resisting corrosion quite well.

I honestly don't see any difference in performance between the Inox and the carbon, other than the fact that the Inox doesn't patina or rust. I have several Inox Opinels, I just prefer the look of the cabons with a nice patina on them.

Since I love carbon steel for general use and I do not like the Opinel, I would pick the Case. However, Great Eastern has a wonderful new knife called Farm and Field with 0-1 Tool Steel. It can be had with black, orange, and glow in the dark scales. This would be my choice at the moment.

Those Farm & Fields look great, Doc. Many thanks for bringing them up (I wasn't aware of them till your post).:cool:

I'm not a fan of Opinel's, and the Sodbuster pattern is one of my favorites.

The Case Sodbuster JR with CV is hard to beat for a bit over $20.

This is why one chooses the SB Jr.
