Opinel Which one to buy??

Uhhh, maybe if the OP told us, what he intends to use the Opi for......?
(there are several different Opis; pruners with curved blades, fixed knives, small folders, larger folders etc etc).

I use my Opis mainly as box cutters (though also for various other duties) hence I converted a few carbon Model 12s for that purpose.
I have other models but like the #12 the best. As you can see, Ive experimented with patina.

If one knife edge gets dull after prolonged use, I reach for the other almost identical Opi.

They work a charm and have done so for years.

Just buy the #13. It's all the knife you'll ever need.

Now there's a KNIFE!! wow

I placed an order for three today, based on what I learned from you all here. I wanted this as an EDC.
I ordered a No. 8 garden - Thanks Bob W for that tip.
An Olive wood #8 - just because.
A number 7 based on all the other recommendations.
I am sure that there will be more in my future. :)

Thanks,
Dave

Are you saying this is a modded # 12? could you post a pic with a ruler or some reference thing? man, I think a sheepsfoot opi like yours would be sweet. I may have to try it.

i just got a stainless #7 in plain old beechwood and it is by the sharpest knife i have ever owned. I love it. I will be definately picking up more of these inexpensive knives.

I bought the carbon #7 and it's an excellent slicer but just found it a little to big for my pockets for edc so it now does desk duty at work mostly cutting up apples and other foods. The #6 works better for me for pocket carry as I like to carry traditional knives in my jeans watch pocket and the 6 just fits better there. The 7 will fit in there but is so big that it can push it's way up and out and get lost. They are both by far my easiest knives to put a razor sharp edge on and these suckers get scary sharp!

Just used my #6 to trim expansion foam on a door install. Way sharper than any Utility knife. I could push-cut the foam away like nothing. Last time I used the foam I tried a serrated steak knife, and a utility knife with new blade. Not a good idea (although that's what the mfg reccomends). Results were wayyyyyyyy better with the Opi.
