Opinel: Why there are 2 holes / pits at the end of the handle.

Here is what the other end of all my Opinels looks like. Note the circular mark.

Mine are like this too, although not as deep as this picture.
I have no holes at the other end though.
 
At about 34 seconds you can see the handles being turned.


I still think that these marks are from this part of the process.
