I'd actually like to cut out a finger choil and install a thumb stud, but something screams heresy at me.

Anybody sand the handle and stain it? I think the logo on the handle sorta makes it less attractive, and a decent wood finish would bring out the grain? Rosewood would look nice, i think.

I took an cutting wheel to a #10 to make a short wharncliffe blade for whittling. Then I ground in a new nail nick, and reshaped the handle (cutout/fingergroove for the new nail nick; thinned-out heel). Ugly, but it works a charm.

No, i saw it. The wood looks good. Maybe I'll get some linseed or tunge oil, and give it a go.
