Opinion - inexpensive non-assisted flippers

I made a post about the Lahar earlier......it's Not assisted. Just a flipper. Still fast if you flip horizonally and loosen the pivot just a little. That's what I did.

I second the Buck Vantage. I have the Avid model in Sandvik and it'd my favorite flipper by far.

I appreciate all the info folks - making a purchase now. Will post pics when they come in.

What did you make a purchase on?

Well... I thought I made a purchase. Turns out the original JYD was out of stock at the place I ordered (as was the Lahar).

That sucks, because I really want those two knives. The Lahar is really intriguing - VG10 (one of my favorite steels), Kershaw ergos, G10, and its a flipper - its practically perfect. Oh well, at least the Tuition is on its way. I decided against the orange-handled Zing in favor of picking up a Damascus Zing later on, but at this rate, its moving up on the list if everything else is out of stock everywhere.

I got a nib kershaw Lahar about a month ago. It was the last one the site I got it from had in stock thou. Fantastic knife made in Japan with vg-10.

Man - where did you order yours from? I'm striking out all over the place.

Kershaw Zing is a great non assisted flipper, and can be found dirt cheap at a certain auction site.

Clockman - I just replied. Appreciate it.

Thanks to rororo64, I've got a Lahar on its way to me (have to wait on Canadian Post/Strike/Customs/ugh...). I can still find the JYDs on ebay, but I'm starting to question if they're worth it over the JYD IIs (especially with Kershawguy's Blem'd price) so I may just get a larger JYD II composite blem for now and be happy (I love my blem'd rake).

Thanks for all the help/input folks!

I ordered a CRKT M16-14D.

I'm sure you can find them for under $40, but beware of fakes!

There's also less expensive models with AUS-4.

Can't recommend it though, haven't tried it, but from reviews it seems like a great knife for the price.
And I like the idea that it automatically locks open every time.

I carry the M-16 Titanium often, several of the Contractor folks I train at Ft. H are carrying the M-21 and it is impressive.
