Opinion: Knives with slogans, political or otherwise, emblazoned on the handle and cringe.

I don't think the guy who had 3 accounts, all agreeing with each other in one thread should really be too critical of what other people choose to put on their stuff.

That said, I find it extremely tacky and would not do it myself, unless I felt the need, then I'm okay with it 😁

Hell, if people want to plaster their property with goofy stuff, I appreciate them warning me that they might, in fact, be goofy themselves.
Way to let bygones be bygones 😒

Thanks Blues Blues for getting us back on track!

For the most part I don’t want anything on my knife except a sharp edge and grippy handle. If there were anything on the blade in time I’ll wear it off anyway. Otherwise I don’t care what someone has on their knife or anything else. It’s theirs and they are free to have what they want on their stuff.

BTW, where can I get one of those 🇺🇸 Trump 2024 🇺🇸knives 😆 I’ll keep it just for display! 🇺🇸

Beyond a cool maker's mark or the things manufacturers put on there, which usually looks pretty cool, I agree. Keep text to a minimum on blades.

Unless they are given away free , I agree .

If free ...all bets are off ! I got lots of baseball caps and T-shirts that way .

And pens , but no knives thus far .
Interesting you mention that and I agree! If it were free quality promotional knife, I'd gladly take it and not mind! I've got a few SAK classics with company logos on them but they we bought in lots off the bay (a great way to outfit your house with a SAK classic in every spot where you might need one). My old man found this old imperial knife on a walk by the river a few years back. It was promotional knife for an herbicide and pesticide. Pretty nice knife for a promotion I think.

I think if you put your regimental motto on your knife it's going to be a timeless classic and a great keep sake. If you are or were in the Marines, Semper Fi(delis) is a good look; otherwise just don't. A line from the Constitution of wherever you're from? Great. Some otherwise meaningful phrase in Latin? Sure. Just make sure you get stuff in other languages you don't understand vetted, so you don't show off your badass knife to people that has "I like soggy noodles" instead of the rando machismo saying you thought it was. Favourite sports team? What the hell. It's who you are. Just be prepared to cry everytime you look at your Raiders emblazoned knife after it relocates again.

Politics, like the politicians themselves, don't tend to age as well as a knife that's been taken care of. If you worked on a politician's election team and want to have a memory of that, sure. Current pop culture stuff on your knife over time will at best become kitsch and at worse make it look like you support something horrible. That Bill Cosby Show lunchbox probably isn't something you want to send your kids to school with.

I'm in the minority in this sense: I don't like to give out info about myself. I don't want strangers to know my political or religious beliefs so I don't use bumper stickers or wear T shirts with that stuff. I don't mind others showing their tribe, etc., but it's just not my personality.

I generally don't like anything printed or etched on a knife, other than the maker's normal markings, not even numbers, but I'd still be willing to buy a Spyderco Police "PIG," model, if I could get one for a reasonable price, because they're rare & collectible and because I'm a retired cop.

Some of us have issues with fake people and multiple ID's on this site - especially when they talk to themselves and the members here, as though they are different people.

Don't act all righteous and thank our good moderator for "getting us back on track" - if you want to thank him, do so for not banning your pathetic azz.

Because I’m sure you’ve never made a mistake, regretted it, and tried to move past it? Righteous indeed.

Can we please stick to the topic?

Creating multiple accounts is not a "mistake". It was a deliberate and purposeful attempt to deceive people. Mistakes are an accident - your actions were no accident.

There is enough deception in the knife world already, I don't expect to see it on this forum.

Thread locked. Shane, I appreciate your point of view, but I asked you guys to drop it.

This sub-forum is not the place and I really would like to avoid handing out warnings.

Don't force my hand. It's not asking a lot. Let's move on.
