Opinion of GEC lockbacks #42?

The Missouri Trapper (2-blade #42) is my favorite GEC knife. Bought them larger and smaller and love this size. I carry it in a leather pocket slip as I really don't want it banged around and I can slip it into a back pocket in the slip and it doesn't move around. The only thing close to the Missouri Trader (1 blade #42) is my Northwoods Madison that I really like. I have too many knives that I really like and I don't carry the Madison even though I bought a jigged bone version to use, and an elephant ivory to fondle mostly as it turns out. These aren't lock backs.

hey! I bought one as well. should be here today. was the blade centered?(Yellow Rose # 42 and the Maroon Micarta)

Absolutely perfectly centered blade. Hope you like your yellow rose as much as I like mine. My first yellow rose too. Very very Yellow, and a lovely nickel silver rose shield.
Mine came uncharacteristically sharp (for GEC) from the factory.

My Yellow Rose #42 didn't show up yesterday (thanks USPS) but it and my Maroon Micarta # 42 will be here today according to the God awful usps. ill take pics, I would like to see your Yellow Rose as well. did you get the serialized? my Yellow Rose isn't but my Maroon Micarta is.

My favorite GEC pattern, hands down. I own more of this model than any other and rotate a stag, smooth bone, blood red bone and green micarta weekly in a pocket sheath with a clip. Have a Yellow Rose and maroon micarta inbound.

I am a huge fan of the GEC #42LB......each of these has more than acceptable lock-up.

The 42lb is also my favorite GEC. In fact it's currently my favorite "traditional" , followed by the 72LB. I have 3 #42's, 2 #72's, a Ben Hogan, etc. Of the #42 LB's I lack the one I've tried to get but missed out 3 times on. The Ebony model. I have several, love them each, but am really obsessed with getting a "nice" user #42lb in Ebony.

If I had my druthers my fantasy knife #1 is currently an Ebony 42lb with an O-1 blade. I like the Farm line O-1 and feel it takes sharper , crisper edges easier, and is my favorite steel in that class. I have probably 5-6 O-1 knives aside from my GEC's. I have even made my own O-1 knives so I know the steel pretty well. Still, the 1095 line is nothing to sneeze at. I first fell in love with the old 1095 Schrade USA 1095 UH line. Can't go wrong. Just can't find it in Ebony yet. :) Even ordering the last two batches released. This batch has everything BUT Ebony it seems. :)

I liked my 42 in Blood Stone Acrylic so much, I ordered a 42 in elk. Should be here Monday.
