opinion on what knife to get

Take a look at the Busse knives. I have never owned one but they are really heavy duty looking knives. I want to get one but not sure which style yet. A lot of people on here swear by them.
I am one of them.

I'm waiting for a Ranger RD6; I think it will make a great camping/hiking knife. If I really like it I may get the RD7 as well. It sounds like they'd be right up your alley.

Consider a Bark River Golok, certainly unusual.

www.mcknightcutlery.com has given me good service, he has Barkies but not sure if he has a Golok in stock.

Otherwise a RAT7 is a workmanlike option.

I will second the Bark River Bravo-1. I purchased a tan & green elder burl last month. With its A-2 convex-edge steel, just under 1/4" thick, it's an amazing knife. It's literally scary sharp. Problem is: they're 'spensive.

The Ranger RD-7 might be right up your alley. I'd only go with something cheaper if I planned on using it for everything when camping, to include digging, prying, etc. Otherwise, it will baton and chop whatever you want. The edge is in the high-carbon 5160 steel. A friend at work got one a while back. I was just looking at it Friday. Very nice.

You also can;t go wrong with an Ontario RAT-7 or RTAK. I own a RAT-3 in D2 (DON'T do that) and I've handled the RAT-7 and RTAK so much the knife shop owner hates me. 1095 carbon is the way to go. As nice as the Ranger but the steel is a tad thinner.

I already have a Bravo 1.It has digital camo micarta scales from the first run.i love it.the reason im asking about the Gameskeeper is because
i ordered one about an hour ago,i guess i broke down.i actually ordered it about 30 minutes after i posted my question regarding the finger guard.
that makes 4 barkies so far.im now waiting on the Gameskeeper, mikro canadian, and trickle to arive.I also have a custom JRE sheath on the way for the bravo 1 and mikro canadian which is a piggy back set up.any info on the method used for attaching the guard on the gameskeeper would be appreciated.:)

Well, I can't say but, knowing BRKT, my guess is it's pinned and epoxied. Then, the pins are ground down and finished to where they almost can;t be seen. Maybe they use a hidden pin system, where the pins protrude from the inside of one of the guards and insert into holes in the other guard...then epoxied.

You can go to DLTtradingcompany.com and send an email to customer service. I've asked them several questions and two ladies have ALWAYS answered them. When they don;t know something, I suppose they contact BRKT for the answer. They've always replied 3 days after I send the email.
