If the Large Sebenza is truly the Best high quality,heavy-duty folder,
then what is your choice for the second best-what currently ranks as
No.2 ?? This is a question that I've never seen asked exactly in this
manner.Could be interesting,to say the least.Your thoughtful consideration will be most welcome.

IMO the Sebenza is not even among the top ten heavy duty folders...take a look at the Strider AR or the Spyderco Chinook. Oh, maybe that Busse folder (provided it will be released in the foreseeable future...).

And of course there is the Buck/Strider up there with the Strider AR.

Seems to be a hard question ! I for one cant answer . I could give a opinion but i'm sure i would be way off target. To answer this you would have to had used or at least held a very lot of knives. I'm sure there are some guys here that could give you a better answer :)

as you can see everyone has their own opinion on what is the best heavy duty folder. Personally i don't see the sebenza as a heavy user (although it is built tough enough to be one) I see the sebenza as more of a very good EDC whereas the strider stuff seem more like the stab it through car hoods and pry open doors kinda knives

The CRKT Lightfoot M1;
Heavy duty build,
AUS8 steel, LAWKS,
Multi-positioned belt clip,
a Flipper and it is reasonably priced!:D

Greco Bird of Prey series.

As sturdy as anything else on the market (yes, that includes Strider and CRK) and reasonably priced.

Apparently even if you break or damage it on purpose John will replace it for you.

If I had a desire for a "bet your knife life" that folds I'd go straight to Greco.

Try running a search for "Greco" and "vice" and you'll get some interesting reading.

What's the 2nd best heavy duty folder? The one you don't have with you when you need it!

I would have to agree with what is being said already. I wouldn't really call the Sebenza a heavy duty user, although it is an excellent user for sure. It will also stand up to all the normal use you could want, and even some more.

That said, it seems impossible to agree on a single number one hard use folder. This would make it even harder to agree on a runner up. I can't even decide on my own number 1 hard use folder, but the Strider AR would be on my short list.

The Sebenza wasn't designed for heavy duty use, but it can still hang with the best of 'em fairly well. If you've got the money, get the Strider, if not, get a Greco.

They've got great prices and great knives.

Nothing's wrong with Greco. From my experience they are every bit as tough and functional as Busse and Strider products and cost considerably less.

However, they aren't as pretty or aggressively marketed.

So far I like Dirk's answer the best. :)

And I wouldn't rate the Sebenza as the toughest, but I do think it belongs on the list. My vote for toughest goes to the Camillus CUDA Maxx Bowie. This is a big, tough, and highly functional knife, despite its pretty looks. ;)

The Maxx is made from two thick slabs of titanium with a thick D2 blade between them. It sports a heavy-duty pivot and one of the solidest framelocks around. There is very little that can go wrong with a design this simple and all of the components are massively strong.

I don't know about second best, but my Greco Falcon while not fancy, is a heavy duty user for sure.

Moot point, but I just couldn't resist:)

Actually, that would describe the BEST! heavy duty folder ;) which is when you would pick up the 2cnd best.
and I agree, Dirk's is still the best reply.
