Opinion Poll: Which grind line is better

So, I'm in the middle of grinding this here bowie. I get both sides roughed in to 60 grit. I start grinding the reverse side at A100, and I step back after a bit and compare to the first side.

The first side is roughed in more or less to my sharpie grind lines. The second side, after cleaning the flats a bit, has a stretched flat and longer transition than my original plan. No prob to adjust the grind back to plan, but I think it might be better... not sure.
It will be a hamon blade, with a bowie style guard, so consider that in your visualizations.

What do you guys think? Three shots of the obverse side, as planned, then three of the reverse side, in transition...

I'm partial to the original grind, I find the flat distracting. Pretty cool profile either way, hope you'll show the final product.

Both have their own visual appeal, though in my opinion having a narrow flat extending closer to the tip looks better with the unique dimensions of this blade, and helps both the recurve and the false edge to sort of "pop". However I'm only considering aesthetics and nothing else. You do what you want, it'll still look nice with the higher grind too.

"Distracting," I can dig it. All right, a solid vote for the mark side! Thank you.

Ninja, thanks for that, too. A well-reasoned vote for the reverse side!

From a newbie point (not knowing how you did EITHER sided), I personally find the left side more eye popping.
To my eyes, the grind lines makes you look down the knife at all the points where as the right side makes me
look more at your flats. The left grind sweeps all the way down the knife and the eye follows it.
With a style like that, I would think the end user is looking for points and damage.

Thanks guys!
Just to be clear, rh and lh are knife as viewed spine up, tip away... so the longer flat is on the right side.
So, I'm taking poolq's vote as being for the right side, and Eric's as being for the left side. Unless I misunderstood either one of them.
I put the tally now as left:2, right:3.

Thanks for the votes guys!
Right side 5, left side 2 so far.
Sanding the right side would be a bit more of a challenge to keep the grind lines defined, but I don't think it would be a big problem.

I like that right side best too, Salem. I'm already seeing that as being a BEAUTY which ever way you go. Frank

Thanks on both accounts, Frank!
Dude, I saw that folder you had published in Knives 2014... you know, mammoth tooth, mosaic bolster and colored mosaic blade... SMOKIN! knife. One of the most striking folders in that issue.

Right side 6, left side 2.

I like the longer flat better...for a bowie

Take away the flat and it is more of a dagger.

I like the blade, whichever way you go. The shape and color contrast, of the handle will really bring it to life.
