Yes, I want opinions...
I am thinking of getting (another!) folder. What I want is a good steel, about 3.5", (prefer partially serrated), general purpose (not "tactical") blade, clip not necessary.
I like "sculptured" handles, not completely flat, and prefer one handed opening (i.e. thumbstuds).
I am interested to hear suggestions...?
Oh, and not too hideously expensive...open to interpretation...
Thanks,
Rob

The 730 is a good idea. Even less tactical, and probably a little slicker, is the 940.

Spyderco Vesuvius might be an interesting alternative.

The Microtech LCC.
Get one with titanium bolsters.
Whether or not u wanna call it a tactical knife doesn't matter. It's very handsome and performs beautifully.
If it looks too tactical to you, have someone satin finish the bolsters, liners, hardware, and blade.
It's just a tiny bit longer than you were looking for.

If not the LCC, perhaps a Sebenza?
I don;t have one because they're too expensive for this lil college student, but maybe you're filthy rich and that's not expensive to you :)

You might want to consider a Microtech LCC m/a. It's solidly constructed, can be had with partial serrations, looks and feels good with its sculpted carbon fiber handles, and can obviously be easily manipulated with one hand. And don't let its "combat" heritage fool you; the wide, flat ground blade is very well suited for everday utility use.

Due to the steel liners, the LCC is a bit heavier than most other folders of comparable size. Also, it does come standard with a pocket clip, though there are several folks making replacement scales for the LCC in a variety of materials.

I am getting one of these next week. Lots of different handles available. I am going for the evo series in black palm.

Go over to A.G. Russell's site and poke around there a while. A.G. offers a lot of knives that fit what
you ask about. Check his knives as well athe the othere brands he sell. A.G.'s knives are all first rate
blades that are all well made and reasonable to buy.

MY EDC is a Gerber Gator, ATS-34.
Was not expensive, takes a fine edge, is sturdy, yet light.
I like the Kraton handles.
There is also a smaller version.
Nothing fancy, just a good knife.
Happy sharpening :)

For a few different price ranges:
$130-160:Microtech LCC
$100-130 Benchmade 730 or 940
$70-100 Benchmade AFCK Series (either 3.25 or a 3.9 inch blade.)
$40-70 CRKT M16 or a BM 550

BM 800 series from www.newgraham.com they run about $60 to 80 range - a heckuva lot of knife imho for the $$ - also the CRKT kasper pro's are good, but would rather have the 800's for the $$ - i recently got a 800S for $55 + s%h - cant complain about that one imho.....and lots of deals on older spydies, BM etc - like strykers, they can be had cheap now, and also many others in the BM line, like the griptillian...look in the for sale section of BF

Buck 110 w/ finger grooves and a BG-42 blade, if they are still available. If not, the regular model with less expensive steel is. Were the BG-42 blades limited edition? I just read about them a couple months ago.
