Opinions actually wanted

Thanks for the suggestions.
I had been leaning towards the Kershaw Ken Onions with their "speedy opening", but will definitely look at the Microtech, and Benchmade.
-Dragon2 I have a 110 with Sanbar stag BG-42 semi-serrated... -As I said: (another!) folder...
I appreciate the advice, that's why I am here.
Thanks guys (and gals),
Rob

-Edit: Filthy rich??? Hah!!! I'm not even slightly grubby in that respect:rolleyes:

Nice sheath on the Boa,:) is that "stock"???

Bobby B -- G2 is Gary Graley. Gary makes many very cool leather sheaths for folders. In fact, he's reputed to be unwilling to make sheaths for FBs. Just likes to do them for the fold up varieties.

I didn't think to go to his website and copy the URL to paste in here. Gary can be found on the Custom forum, and the basic general forum, and the Shop Talk forum, I believe. His URL is part of his signature.

No, Boa/Kershaw doesn't come with a G2 sheath. Maybe they should tho.

Other general purpose Spydies to consider:

Native, FRN (or G-10 if you can get them)

Lum Chinese (if you like flat ground)

These come colored (Native G-10 only), so they are good competition for the Boa. The Lum can be had for about $110, the Native G-10's about $90 - $100 and the Native FRN about $50. The Native is the easiest one-hand closing lockback knife I have ever owned.

I own many of the knives discussed in this thread.

The BM 730 is an excellent knife, I own the 735 with green scales.

The Microtech LCC is another beautiful knife, especially for the price. Be sure you understand what you are getting into before ordering an auto. On the other hand, you can buy an LCC manual action.

I own two of the Ken Onion Kershaw knives, and they are a great bargain. My favorite is the Random Task. The blade geometry is very good, and the CPM-440v is good stuff, though rather difficult to sharpen.

If you do decide to buy the Kershaw, I would not recommend the Whirlwind. Though this is a fine knife for the money, the pricier ones are even better. You will be glad you spent the extra dough as time goes by.

These three knives are some of the best production knives out there IMHO.

Good luck!
