OPINIONS. first friction folder

I personally like friction folders that have an adjustable pivot so you can adjust the feel. The knife in the OP is pinned, not my cup of tea.

I have 2 svord peasant knives on there way to me one that im going to put a stag handle on and make a little leather sheath for and one that im leaving the black poly handle on to use as a beater. For under 20 bucks i think it has to be the best deal in friction folders and cheap enough to make a fun weekend project if you get bored!

I've never had one but I'd like to look at one. Somebody wanna mail me one to check out?

I didn't get the russlock and I don't get the svord. Doesn't that gawky tang extension give you extra length in pocket, wear on your pocket stitching, and danger to your vital organs? Isn't that blade too eager to close by itself?

Nope! ^ The Peasant Knife sits in the pocket perfectly. Try it. This is a classic, well thought out folder.

Get one. You can't lose.
Go to youtube to see how to open and close the PK with one hand.

here it is. now i want to modify the handle with some black and white G10

i went with red to match the red paracord i have, but when its black and white the red will still look good

i dont know, but man that thing just CUTS through wood ...i havent seen anything like it
i was VERY impressed with its thin blade and awesome cutting ability.

i've heard folks talk about how well it works, but its something I just had to see for myself
i am very impressed!

Apart from a couple SAK's (which I do consider a sort of breed on its own), friction folders are the only traditional knives I've seen and handled for the first 25 years of my life, and that's why I love them.
Still, I don't think I will ever stand the tang extension on many of them...one more reason to prefer an Opinel :)

I am not a friction folder guy but if I have to try one it would definitely Michael Morris

I'd second that. I have both a Morris and a Svord Peasant and much prefer the Morris. Both are well thought out and, yes you'll pay more for the Morris but it's worth it to me. Here's why; My Morris is much more compact than the Peasant and comes with a simple leather sheath, making it completely safe in your pocket. The hollow grind is subtle with rounded shoulders, the Morris will easily outcut the Peasant. What you can't see in photo's is that the two micarta sides are not perfectly parallel, a slightly narrower spacer on the butt pin means the sides flex slightly and pinch the extended tang, holding the blade open. You need about the same amount of pressure to close the knife as a medium slipjoint. Finally, it comes with a bottle opener:)

Much as I like my Svord (which, incidentally I spent time rounding the scales, putting a decent edge on, blah, blah...), the Morris is the one which goes in my pocket.
