Opinions needed please on this little utility knife

Danbo,
That looks great. I think it would accommodate several grips quite comfortably and securely. From an aesthetic point of view, I think the overall look would have been a little more fluid if the hump had been slightly behind the plunge, allowing the grind line to come up along the curve of the thumb ramp, but that's just my own personal opinion, which means nothing in the end anyway. :)

Regarding Mr. Andrews' idea about dropping the tip a bit, as long as you grind slowly and cool the blade before it gets too hot to the touch, you won't screw up the temper at all.

Personally, I could see the tip dropping a bit too, but why mess with it? It's a nice-looking blade and I think it should stay how it is.

Hey Danbo,

You sure that's not a fairly big knife that just happens to look small in your GIGANTIC mits? :p

I'd leave the hump. For some reason, I like the look of it. Gives the knife a "little skinner look". And I can appreciate the functional / ergonomic benefit. As others have mentioned you could grind away a (very) little bit to make the visual transition more gradual, but not if this would at all compromise the way the knife feels and works.

These knives of yours keep lookin' better bro. Keep at it.

Roger

Hiya Danbo, I'd leave it as is. I'm pretty sure I've seen and handled this little knife before. I liked it then and like it now. Good ergos always trump any perceived cosmetic issues. I have seen and handled some knives that look kinda funny, but you understand why immediately when you hold them and use them.

Danbo, I'd leave the hump too. I think it looks great. I know what you mean about that amboyina. I just finished my first piece using it and is does smell good when you work it. Kinda like incense.
Beautiful piece. Keep up the good work.
Ed

I'd leave the hump. Ergonomics count!

Dropping the tip? Eh, maybe. Do it on the next one and then put 'em side-by-side.

But after careful study of the pics, I strongly recommend removing the boogers from the thong hole. :D

Danbo, It sure is a pleasure seeing you on this side of the fence, the maker's side. Kind of a natural transition for you, friend. You have been quite a collector, I beleive. Your knife looks pretty good, too. Yep,Danbo, you are hooked!
