I have been getting some requests for a wharncliff style blade. Here is one I made for udtjim. It`s 9 1/2" overall, with a 4 1/2" x 1 1/4" x 1/8" blade. It also has thumb notches, and a red micarta handle with extended tang. My question is, how do you feel it will work in the woods? I know it will shave fuzzsticks, baton wood, and prep food fine, but what about other camp chores?

Depends I guess, I use my wharne for more EDC utillity, not woods utillity(cutting tape, boxes ,wire striping even cutting fiberglass ducts). I don't hunt but I've heard mixed feelings on wharnes being used for field dressing. For me cutting rope/cordage fuzzys battoning and food prep are all I need for a camp utillity but hunters would need/want a more drop point I guess.

Thanks! I just read that, it seems the wharnie is a lot more practical in the woods than I thought. I use a small one in the shop, and really like the design.
 
Awesome! I love wharncliffs. How much would those go for? One just like that? Pointy tips is good for drilling, or fine work. Straight edge is easier to shapen for me. I never find use for belly, or curved edge in outdoor chores for me, minus hunting.

WOW must have missed that one. Looks great. I love warnie's. I personally just like the way they work.

If the blade were a little wider, mostly to get your knuckles out of the way, I think this would make a great food prep knife.
