This is my special project, the JK "modernized friction folder." It works like the old time friction folders, or a straight razor. This one has 1/8" liners, On future ones they will be 1/16" stainless. The blade is 1/8" O1, and the handles are black micarta.

This picture shows the micarta back spacer, and the 1/4" stainless stop pin. The pivot pin is also 1/4"

Let me know what you think.

Nice!!! I like it. Lots of options in blade profiles, a nessie would be very cool.

Nice job John!!!

looks very nice to me, kind of like the "peasant knife" that ragnar sells, except yours looks much more high-end.

nice friction folder , practical and built like a tank those liners look nice and thick.

Love it.

Love the blade profile and grind.

Only things I would change are personal choices that would be specific to me.

1. Mirror polished blade

2. Radiused edge on micarta slabs

You do really nice work.

I really like it! The only thing I would change would be to bring the two choils closer together. I dislike having much space between my first two finger when they're wrapped around a knife handle.

I really like that design. I agree with one thing previously said about the choils, other than that, it looks like a great blade!

Thanks for all the ideas, this one was my prototype model. I figured out how to get a little more edge out of future ones without changing any lengths, and the handles will be rounded off on any more I make.

That is nice work John. I'm gonna have to dip my hand in my wallet for some of your stuff soon. Great seeing a maker, take new paths and being successful.

I'm not a friction folder fan at all, but that looks great, and very sturdy. I would stick with 1/8" liners if it were me, but I like a beefy handle. I think it would look very nice with rough natural canvas micarta scales. Kinda "old modern".

I agree with J Williams, a nessie version would be really cool. I like this folder a lot. The fit and finish are top notch, as previously stated this one looks very high-end. Outstanding job.

Looks very sturdy and carefully crafted. On a folder of that size, I'd pass on the choil in favor of more cutting edge.

Nice work!

I will be doing different blade shapes, with all of my different handle materials. I really enjoyed making this, kind of a challenge for me.

I have a couple folders in this style but they were made to look more primitive, for Mountain Man Rendezvous and the like. Your version looks much stronger and more stylish. A great contemporary interpretation of a very traditional style. I look forward to seeing the variations!
