Opinions of Hideaway knives?

I had one for a while and really enjoyed it. They take a while to get used to since their like no other knife you've (I've) ever handled before but they really are great knives.
 
I am personally skeptical of them...whats the difference between a HAK, and a cheaper neck knife, such as the MOD Scorpion (which is 154cm, btw)?
 
I was on the verge of ordering one, but started thinking of the legal implications of carrying one. I live in MA, and as most of you know we have some pretty bad knife laws here. A hideaway would probably be considered a martial arts weapon, which are all illegal to carry. Too bad, they look really nice and I have only heard good things about them.
