Opinions of Opinels?

I've been calling Ragnar and nagging him to get the Opinel wood saw. Perhaps if a few more of you would do the same thing, we could get it rolling.... Just a suggestion....

What about Marjacq ?

I have a nº10 myself in carbon steel and it is my first choice for food prep and stuff like that. Thin blade and cuts like a dream. It gets dull easily but in just a few minutes I have it shaving again. I don't know how expensive they are in US but here in Spain they are about the cheapest knives arround.

I don't just edc, I ed use.
Best darn knife for ten bucks. Many don't believe it but I've split the pelvis of many deer with this #8, not to mention dozens of fish cleaned.
The list is much longer of the tasks this knife has done for me.

Do you use the tip or the edge? I did the same with one of my Doziers last year on a hog, split the brisket and pelvis, and it did fine, even with a very thin tip...

I use the edge. Finding the center is crucial, but when I do I use a rocking motion and it slides right through. Bucks are actually easier than Does. When a Doe gives birth the pelvis opens up, then heals; after years of this it thickens but can still be split.
