Opinions of the Victorinox package opener tool?

I'm giving up on my dream of having a couple of custom Victorinox 93 mm Alox knives, and now I'm thinking I might get a new Companion Slim Alox for EDC, but I'm a little put off by the new package opener tool. Although I will still carry my usual Victorinox Rambler, I'd really much rather have any of the 93 mm small knife blades than the package tool, but at least it does have the flat Phillips driver on the end. Who here has got one of the new Victorinox models with the package tool, and what has been your experience of it, so far?

Not planning to get one. Too specialized; i think it would be underused. I never had a package i can't open with a knife or just bare hands.

I’ve had a Companion since they came out, and the package opener sees a lot more use than the can opener did for me. Works really well for getting into packages without gunking up the blade of your knife. First world problem, sure. But I’m a fan

Have one of the slim alox ones that lives in the car too.

I have (2) Companion Slim Alox, and I love them. I cannot have a blade at work, and the Companion Slim Alox is what I carry daily at work. The package opener works great! Well enough that I only use it to open packages at home.

It was designed for airline travel.
Based on online reports, TSA will still take it away.
Thats to say, some airports don’t allow any scissors, regardless of size.

It will never replace any of my vics for edc.
The blade(s) does everything that package opener does and so much more.
