Hey guys, I was wondering, what do you guys think of the Doug Ritter Grip? I have a Mini and it has quickly replaced my 940 for EDC. Thanks

It has IMO better steel, a better blade shape and a better grind.

I thought it was worth the extra money, many agree with me, many don’t.

Love the blade. Love the steel, shape, grind, finish. Love the Axis lock.

Didn't like the handle. But that's just me. Didn't like the feel or texture. It wears G10 now

I had a 550, 551 and the Ritter Grip is just overall a better knife. I just got an old 550, and the Ritter Grip just blows it out of the water. Same handle, but the S30V blade is better than 440C/154CM. The only area that raises an eye for me is the S30V steel. I sharpened the blade on the Ritter Grip several years ago, but it was not dull. It just wasn't as sharp as it was brand new. Through the years, now that it has gotten dull, it is harder to sharpen.

Anybody know what's up with Ritter Grips? I ordered one 3 weeks ago and got an email today that said Aeromedix cannot fulfill their orders due to unforeseen circumstances. Are they no longer being made? What a shame if that's true. I'm a newbee collector and was looking forward to owning a Ritter.

I have had 4 of them over the years. I still have a large and small m4 and a small s30v. It's probably my favourite benchmade folder and one of my favourite folders overall. The blade shape and grind is perfect for the outdoorsy stuff I like to do like camping, canoeing and the like.

Some people dislike the scales and I understand why. I think they are perfectly fine. I had a gold class grip once but got rid of it because it wasn't really any better than my m4 ritter. YMMV.

A buddy ordered one a month or two ago and they cancelled his order too. Does anyone else carry them?

I'll just add a +1 to all the posts in favor of the Ritter Grip. It has been my EDC folder for the last 4 years. It has seen everything from urban carry to backwoods to foodprep to cleaning game. I love the blade shape, the axis lock, even the handles (very grippy:) Hands down my favorite folder.

Don't give up yet! ;)

My relationship with Aeromedix has ended and I am in the process of selecting a new retailer to work with. I am close to making a decision and expect to announce a new exclusive retailer arrangement in the next 30 days. New production has already been ordered for all of the RSK knife line.

I was hoping this transition might have gone smoother, but...... I apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks for your patience and support.

Doug, any chance of ever seeing a limited/sprint run of Ritter Grips with G10 or micarta scales, maybe even a slightly different handle shape? I realize that Ritter Grips are themselves 'limited editions' in a sense, also that by changing the handle materials and/or shape it would no longer be a Griptilian... but a guy can hope, right?

I appreciate the support and interest. I do not comment on, or discuss, future product plans. Burned too often, sorry.

Well that's good news. I was a little worried there.

Many of us know first-hand how difficult the M4 experience was, and I am sure you and the folks at AM had it far worse than any of us at this end. I'm sorry to hear that things have come to a fork in the road - best luck.

To the OP, I have both the large and small Ritter Grips. It's a great blade and worth the wait, which we'll hope is short. Hang in there.

Small Ritter Grip is currently my only Benchmade. At twice the price of the standard mini Grip, it delivers value for me. I don't mind the plastic handle, it offers good retention while working, but it could benefit by growing a tad longer. The blade is just great.

The Ritter grip is great, except Ritter previously (a few years ago) posted on his site that thumb studs get in the way when cutting & that a thumb hole was better for that reason.

I tend to agree, if cuttlng deep or when sharpening, the stud does get in the way (for me at least).
That has been the only thing standing in the way of me buying it. - great knife otherwise.
