opinions on benchmade doug ritter griptilian

I had the M2 Ritter Grip (unfortunately stolen out of my car)--the blade was fantastic (as was the steel), and I much prefer its shape and grind to the other Grips. However, I'll echo what others have said about the texture of the handle and thumb studs getting in the way. Neither was ideal IMHO. I also found the handle/blade relationship a bit odd--it undermined the control I wanted in detail work.

I replaced my Grip with the Spyderco Gayle Bradley, and prefer it in every way so far.

The only problem I had after buying the first Ritter Grip, I liked it so much I bought two more. My Favorite is the smaller version. I wound up putting Wilkens grips on them. which mad them a little pricey, but I really like them a lot.

Don't give up yet! ;)

My relationship with Aeromedix has ended and I am in the process of selecting a new retailer to work with. I am close to making a decision and expect to announce a new exclusive retailer arrangement in the next 30 days. New production has already been ordered for all of the RSK knife line.

I was hoping this transition might have gone smoother, but...... I apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks for your patience and support.

Doug,

Best wishes.
Here's hoping that your next website has real-time info about what's in-stock and what's not.

You just made my day. I will be watching the forum intently for news about your new relationship with a dealer for your knives. Like I said in my original message, I'm new to this hobby and the Ritter grip is a must have in my opinion. Hope to be the first online "on line" to get one!

The Ritter grip is great, except Ritter previously (a few years ago) posted on his site that thumb studs get in the way when cutting & that a thumb hole was better for that reason.

I tend to agree, if cuttlng deep or when sharpening, the stud does get in the way (for me at least).
That has been the only thing standing in the way of me buying it. - great knife otherwise.

The studs can easily be removed (unscrewed) for sharpening. Now go get one!;)

Great stonewashed S30V blade (yes, there's an M4 version...AND done in M2 as well...) in a stock Grip handle, fantastic slicer.

I love the wide blade and high flat grind on the Ritter Grips.
