Opinions on Cold Steel's Nightshade series?

completely non detectible knives that any psycho could walk onto a plane with? No Thanks. When I found out about these "knives" from CS, It made me hate them even more.

Blackfeet, I'm very right wing oriented and agree that the government has too much power, but what you're saying is nuts. I will leave it at that.

Do you also hate Lansky?

They made their version, "The Knife," back in at least the early 1980s when CS only had around 5 knives in their entire line. IIRC they were the first to make such "knives."

As I said in the other thread, before 9-11-01 you could board a plane with most folders. CS was already selling these "knives." Why would someone choose to illegally sneak a zytel "knife" when they could legally carry a real folder?

These "knives" are just gimicks companies sell to make a little extra money.

I have the five inch dagger dangling off a suction cup hook in my shower. I know it's irrational, but I get a kick out of it.

:D

I'd keep a Ti fighter in the shower.

If they're short enough, I can maybe keep 2 in the shower?

For that matter you could keep one in your back pocket and just throw him at anything that annoys you.

This line always disturbed me a bit...How many companies would willingly make a hopefully undetectable shank? Design wise, I am a bit curious in their execution. Do they even bother with sheaths if only the points are sharp? I imagine if they came with sheaths these 'letter openers' suddenly become something meant to be carried, which is a company liability.

The Ones that are basically Just a "spike" had a neck carry sheath.

cold steel wasnt the first company to come up with this idea. i got one as a throw in at a pawn shop made by MIKO. the guy said it was isreali, he was probably full of crap. you could definitely mess someone up with it but id rather carry steel. decent idea if security things ever get out of hand but honestly, why?

They are a novelty.....but, they are rather cool!!! I have a set minus the push Daggers, RCMP probably think that Canadians are going to use push Daggers in some crime or something....even the Canadian Knife collectors are Exempt from owning them as well as Balisong Switchblades...

For the price you'd have to ask "why not?" The Tanto's I have even have an edge of sorts, sharp enough to get through all sorts of stuff (ragged though the edge may be, or get).
There's lots of stuff made that, in the wrong hands, could lead to abuse. No such risk in my hands though, or yours, so why worry about that?
They don't rust, they weigh nothing, and in a pinch, they're a force multiplier. And almost for free too. ;)

some might find "non-metallics" a pain

imo, they do serve a purpose in some areas of the cp/security profession.
but honesty, i just couldn't say if cs's
grivory is something that is widely considered to be professional life saving material.

I bought a few of them because I like the ergonomics of a few CS knives and I figured that it would be cheaper to buy the zytel version if all I ever wanted out of the real one was something to (someday) base a lost-wax model on.

Not to copy wholesale mind you. Just to start with for the general form.
