Opinions on CRKT M16

The flipper is the round, grooved part of the blade that is
sticking out of the back of the knife when closed.
you do a little pressure or movement to this with (or without)
some wrist-flipping the blade comes out.
Then the flipper works as a fingerguard.

perfect + genial :D    :D

Likes mine enough to had made some modifications:

Now that is nice. What kind of wood did you use?

Hello All,

I'm new to the site and was wondering, since I just purchased an M16-14, what you all use to sharpen it, and keep it maintained?

Thanks

I love my M16-12Z, but I have to point one thing out: You said you wanted it for general cutting tasks. Make sure the edge is bevelled on both sides. I don't think any of the Zytel ones have this, and as a result, whenever I cut something thick such as cardboard, the knife tends to curve toward one side.

That aside, it's a great series of knife, very tough, and I'd even say it's as fun to play with as the K.I.S.S. series.

I don't like:

- carbon fiber
- zytel
- tanto blades
- flippers

I do like:

My pre-flipper, spear point, AL handled M-16! :)

CRKT makes a bunch of solid, inexpensive knives, you just have to find the one you like.

kit carson thought abt that baliswing abt the accidental opening thats y the pocket clip is attached just below the pivot (tip up carry is assumed as on the knife). as a result when the knife sits in ur pocket, the flipper is exposed preventing it fm opening in ur pocket. but then again if ur really paranoid then u just have to tighten the pivot with a philips screwdriver (most knives use torx). overall its a great knife.

@ Solid_soldier: Thanks, wood is olive, blade polished up to 600 grit. :D
@ BaliSwinger: it works at so many knives and i heared from no problems.
If it is combined with "assisted opening" like the Kershaw BOA
or Scallion, a safety is necessary!

I have tried them all and my all time favorite folder in the tactical style is the CRKT M16-04.
