Opinions on fixed blades- which would you buy

I like bark river knives as a consumer, but as a dealer I would t carry them. There are plenty of places to get them currently. Try stocking something hard to get or new to market would be my opinion. Fiddle back makes a nice knife but there has to be a new blade smith that would sell better than what you listed. Good luck

I'd say look at all the con's from each company first. Next I would look at what would sell the best. If I had to pick just one I would have to say Bradford.

Thanks for the input. I actually try to specialize in the higher end hard to get stuff, Striders, Grayman, Winkler, Reeve, Mil-Tac, Hinderer, Treeman and a few custom when I can get them. I think Bradford is the next brand I will pick up. They are relatively new, high quality and from your comments better known than I thought.

Why such animosity towards Bark River? Is it based on the knives quality, or is there some soap opera/emotional type drama that I'm unaware of? I don't have any Bark River knives myself, but am strongly considering buying some.

I was wondering that too. I have two BRK's, a Bravo 1 & a Woodland, and both have been good users.

From reading it seems a little bit of both. There are a couple threads on here to check out if you like.

Bradford knives G3 is an awesome knife! I am sure it would sell for you. I have not experience with the others, mostly due to price.

Well, I am biased as I have known Andy Roy through these and other forums for over 10 years and proudly call him a friend, but my objective vote would still go with Fiddleback Forge.

FB has cultivated a following despite the creeping price point. If you haven't handled a FBF knife spun by Andy's hand, you're missing out. A warm and friendly handshake is the best way to describe it.

I'm a fan.

I actually have no experience with any of those brands , other than what I have seen and read online . That being said , it seems that Bradford is fairly new to the marked and seems wildly popular right now . I know I have looked at them many times and have come very close to pulling the trigger on some . I expect the trigger will be pulled before long too lol.

Bradford has been going very fast anytime they come up on the exchange, that has to be a good indicator. What about them and maybe a few of the Fiddleback production versions? The FB production have good steel and are priced competively.

Why?

I am genuinely curious. I am currently into Bowies and I saw nutnfancy's YouTube review on their bowies. Look, the knife in question was a c2009 and it looks like if probably was a ~ 3/4 rat tail tang but it was a beautiful light fighting bowie.

Oh, and OP, I know it sounds pedestrian and kitsch but I'm a sucker for Ka-bars, fwiw.

That info is easily searchable here. Peoples' issues with them are well documented. I am in that camp.

People like them too, and that has been well documented. I am not in that camp.

Either search for Bark River/Mike Stewart here, or just wait around a bit, and eventually a thread on the subject will come up.

This is a great idea. I think Fiddleback productions and Bradfords would be a great way to go.

Do a GB&U search on the owners name and the company. You will find a full spectrum of comments.

Geez, thanks for the tip. Did just that.

The more I know, the more I know I don't know.

Well, at least I know my stainless steel blades are stainless ;)

I love my barkriver knives I have 4 now and I think it's a combination of availability and their qc issues , personally I can live with both of these things

For some it is not at all about the knives and more to do with owner, his reputation, and his history. Some don't want anything to do him.

Arno Bernard makes a great knife but Bradford would sell faster imo

Bradford should be on your list and the Survive! GSO series. Very popular and not easy to find. Both should sell very well.

Survive can't get the knives out on their own to customers who have paid months and months ago much less dealers. If I was a dealer, their business model is not something I would ever want to get involved with.

Thanks for the input I have Bradfords on the way. I have tried Survive and they do not take any dealers right now. I do own a couple of the GSO Survive knives and like them allot. I have also had one on order for a year :)
