Opinions on folder / steel for extreme use!?

Yea paterickknight idk y i didnt carry a leatherman just usually a folder or auto knife lol

Its very rare id use it for a screw driver or something like that but ive been desperate before were my tools are very far and i just need to shut a jbox or something

Ill invest in some sort of multi tool but i will still need a knife because im not going to use the blade off a multi tool every day. Ive been looking at a few things but i really dont know much about steels.

Honestly the 154cm on your Benchmade is all the steel 99% of us need, its just neat to try out all the new high end ones. Since you are used to that a Griptilian in the same steel wouldn't be a bad choice when teamed up with a good multitool.

Yeah, sounds like a mulit-tool plus a new folder are in order. From your description though of blade play with your BM auto it doesn't sound like a blade steel issue, but a frame/lock issue. Even 154CM or heck, even AUS 8 can be made super sharp again with 5 mins every few days or once a week on a SharpMaker. I think you are looking for more of a beefy frame/lock. If so, check out the Cold Steel Recon 1 series with the TriAd Lock. They are fairly cheap, sharp, great ergos and beefy yet light. When I want to take a folder that will get abused and I won't care, it's my CS Recon1 Tanto. Yeah it's not as cool as my Sebenza but I don't mind really using it or losing it. I'll jam it into a log or the ground and no worries.

Get a good multi tool or an Emerson cqc-7.
The blade shape and the 154cm he uses makes for an outstanding work knife.
My work edc is a Commander, but only because of the combo edge as I find it to be much more useful, and I cut thru many of the same materials you describe.
