I have the Fixed Griptilian in 154cm as well as a 910 Stryker...Seems fine to me.

If the S30V is working for you than go for it. Don't worry, I won't be offended 
But seriously, S30V and D2 have better edge retention that 154cm - they were designed to provide edge retention! I happen to like 154cm as a knife steel, but also I love VG-10, D2, hell my 420HC and AUS8 blades are great. You have to go with what works for you, and certainly the Native in S30V is a HELL of a bargain for a knife with that level of steel, as a matter of fact, I am EDCing one right now. My suggestion is to get yourself a mini Ritter Grip or a Para Military. They will be slightly easier to sharpen than the D2 Grip. You can always pick up a D2 benchmade another time, give yourself stuff to grow on. Good Luck
