I don't own the spear point but I do own the D2 impact combat knife. D2 is a tough steel. I like the size of the knife. The micarta handle is very nice too. I would assume the spear point would be as good or better than the combat version.
I don't have one but am very interested since Bob Dozier cooperated with Kabar in the design and I like his work. It should be a winner for the reasonable price they charge for it.
Another similar knife to look at which I think is a cut above (pun intended) is the Bark River Knife Company. The only problem with them is that they are not made for rookies, being extremely sharp and tough. They can definately hurt you which is why I always recommend a blade guard on any fixed blade.
They are more hunting blade that spear point which may be a negative.
I have one,it`s a very tough knife, but the hand swell in the grip feels kinda weird to me,but i have small hands.when i get a comfortabul grip the knife cuts like lazer! If it fits your hand right it is a kick ass knife! good luck, steve
Thanks for the opinions. I'm a little hesitant with the higher end Ka-Bar knives because of some of the statements I've seen on this site about how the blades edge has to be redone. Knife just seems like a real good deal for D-2.
