Opinions on Northwoods knives

Again? Many of them are made by GEC. Very good craftsmanship and quality.

Excellent knives! I have the canoe (made by queen) and the whittler (made by GEC). Both are top shelf in every way.
KSF also takes good care of their customers as an added bonus.

Awesome, I am considering there small trapper. So thank you for the information

What does the have too with me who is new to the forum and trying to learn about different knife makers and knife models

I think they are just suggesting using the search function. But regardless, you pretty much cannot go wrong with most of the Northwoods knives if not all. I can't say that I've been overly thrilled with all of them, but overall very decent quality.

I'd like to try a Northwood, but they just always seem to be a little too over priced compared with the GEC standard line.

Me too, I don't have a knife from either brand. I've heard such high praise for GEC but I don't know much about Northwoods and don't know how they match up

I guess asking questions and conversing with others if you're new here is frowned upon. Dually noted

Not at all. I think you're taking it the wrong way. I think if you have a more specific question regarding a particular maker, you'll get all sorts of answers. When you ask a general question that's been asked many times, people tend to get frustrated giving the same answers all the time and will suggest using the search feature.
Hang around here a bit and feel it out. You'll find the porch is a great place to hang and you'll get all the answers and conversations you want. I learn something new here all the time.

The majority of new Northwoods are made by GEC. The older runs were a lot of Queen made.

I think you're right about being higher priced, but that may be because of some premium handle materials used on some models, different blade finishes and configuration etc. Derek usually does something special than just re-branding a standard GEC knife. With one exception (which was quickly rectified) all my GEC made Northwoods knives have been fantastic.
