Build Quality IMO is better, All of GEC's are very good, Just The Northwood's line by GEC To me is better.

Northwoods Knives are high in price but remember some of those prices include a "pocket slip" and the great customer service that comes from KSF. Trust me I've dealt with them and they are just people actually trying to help.

Anything GEC makes is generally pretty good.

I have been keeping my eye peeled for a Hawthorne.

They don't apparently come up for sale too often.
