Hi guys,

I got the itch but I don't feel like spending a lot so I've been looking over Opinels.

I like the blade shapes on their "Slim" or "Slimline" or "Slim Line" knives. Brother, knife sellers don't make it easy to find what you want. I have seen all three of these "slim" designations used to describe the same knife. Frankly, it's a pain in the ass!

Anyway, I was thinking about getting one of these two:

or

I'm hoping some of you guys own either one or both of these and will tell me about them.

I don't see much difference in them except for the wood used for the handles. The blade shapes look the same to me. But I've been wrong before.

Anyway, please tell me about these knives.

Thanks.

I own an Opinel and absolutely recommend it as a pretty cheap piece to in every car and every bush bag and fishing kit. Holds an edge like no other and no kidding.

I thought there were a lot of Opinel fans here. Did I post this in the wrong place?

The "slim" knives are VERY different from the regular. If you want a food prep or picnic type knife, the "slim" are great. I have the 10 slim and the 12, bubinga slim. the 10 is quite handy; the 12 is beautiful (to me). I also have the "regular 6 (olive), 8 (beech and walnut), 12 carbone and the "garden". The 12 bubinga slim is my favorite by far. ADDICTION WARNING! (I would post comparison pics, unfortunately my computer skills are lacking :o)

I have the Opinel 10 with olive wood handle. I love it! It is incredibly sharp, very comfortable to hold, and lightweight.
