Opinions on Shiva Ki blades?

The guy from Europe would be me. I don't have to explain why, it's my money after all, but I think it would be good to do so.
I wrote to Shiva Ki because I had to know WHY the short handle on the knife from him that I used to cut cardboard (see my post a few pages ago). I couldn't get a good grip on that knife. He answered that the customer specifically asked for a very short handle ... go figure it out. All this without jumping to the ceiling because I criticized his knife's handle and finish. Actually his tone in emails was nothing like those posts you see in the thread he got banned. I decided I have to try one of his knives, with a regular sized handle this time. I ordered a 7" 1/2 knife (the Spirit model) with regular steel. I won't have it before a few months because I don't have the money right now and it will take a while to raise it.
I also emailed leatherbird with some questions but that is private.
BTW, Doug (leatherbird) is obviously NOT Shiva Ki.

INADVERTENT?? Say what? Did he intend to say something complimentary about John, but his fingers slipped on the keyboard and -oh my - out popped a disparaging comment instead? I remain... confused :rolleyes:

Just to be clear, whatever "slur" Shiva claims to have been responding to, it sure wasn't from John.

Have to agree with Roger here. Nothing inadvertant about the various things Ki said previously, or his behavior.

It reminds me of an old joke.

The other night, I was having dinner with my wife. I had meant to say: "Please pass the mashed potatos", but it came out: "You ruined my life you selfish bitch!" :)

If you do, I'm sure you will like it very much. It is apparent that everyone that has a Shiva Ki knife thinks very highly of them.

I would imagine that it is me, and you know what, I don't give a rat's behind about his opinion of me. The fact that Shiva Ki apologized to John Fitch doesn't excuse the fact that he insulted him in the first place or that he never apologized to the others that he insulted will on this forum. It also doesn't excuse the fact that he flagrantly disregarded the rules of this forum. When I look at his comment I just consider the source, and I sure won't lose any sleep over it.

G.R., you can tell Mr. Ki that he can his knives on this forum, he just can't promote the sale of them and that is what he did at every opportunity. If he wanted to post about what made his knives good he had every chance to do so. Instead he would tell people that he knives available for sale. That isn't talking about his knives, that is advertising his knives for sale. He did so without even the courtesy of getting a knifemaker membership. He does not have the excuse that he didn't know the rules, because he was told many times. He just decided to disregard them. His posts were all about hyping his knives and never about sharing information on what his them good. All he would ever post was that his knives would cut so many ropes and that was so many times more than the ABS smiths knives could cut.

Anyway, I've been taught not to let the little things bother me, and there couldn't possibly be anything more little than Shiva Ki's or his groupie's opinions of me.
 
By the way, if you are going to use the nickname given to people with the last name Montgomery, it is spelt with a y not an i.

It's just that in the last 9 months I've gotten SO many Emails concerning what we're discussing,and I try to reply to them all expressing my experience with said knives,all the while keeping my responses out of the forums.

That about sums it up. I am no longer skeptical of what we will get if Shiva returns to the forums. I know EXACTLY what we will get - same s#!t, different day. :jerkit: :yawn: What a class act.

Most of us here are grown up people, many very tough guys too (we all use knives after all) yet we get easily offended by a man who thinks too much about himself. Yes, his postings here were not always polite and he was promoting his works. Did he do something different than Cold Steel does?

Right on Dave1967.

One thing I've noticed is how thin-skinned these tough boys are on the custom forums and what a tight little girly cliche they have. You trip the wrong lever in this forum, post is shut down. However if the "respected forum members" want to keep flogging a dead horse, the thread just dribbles on forever.

Just look at Shiva Ki as good entertainment.

Are you implying -- or claiming -- to be that unusual person who buys a "killing" knife and then kills with it.
