Right now I'm looking at getting either the Spin, Navigator 2, or Cricket, and I'd like opinions on which of these is the best from you fine folks.

I'm liking the looks of the spin the most right now.

What I want to know is... well, which one is the best blade, handle, which one is most useful, which ones are more comfortable in the hand, things like that.

Looking at the picture of the Navigator 2... is it a lockback? I don't like those... too much hassle.

I've been carrying a Nav2 for about 3 weeks now and love it. Good size and fits the hand very well. The knife is small in the pocket and doesn't attract a lot of attention when clipped to the front pocket. Yes, it is a lockback.

The Spin is a very small and sharp framelock. It IS a great knife, but it IS very small. I love mine.

So, Nav 2 is lockback, I don't like that
Spin is framelock, I like that
Cricket is framelock, I like that

Nav 2 has a useful looking blade, I obviously like that
Spin has a useful looking blade
Cricket doesn't have a useful looking blade

Nav 2 is designless, I don't like that
Spin (Always been drawn to the spin) has a design, I like that
Cricket doesn't have a design, I don't like that

Habit your request is a bit hard to answer especially which is the most useful. If you just want to prep cigars, sharpen pencils, and trim your nails (gent's knife use) the little Spin is perfect for that. The Cricket will do all that but IMO is sturdier...especially the blade. On the downside many may find the Cricket's handle less ergonomic than the Spin. The Navigators beat out both for sturdiness and classify as "Big Little Knives" meaning the handle will actually fill your hand for more control. The Spyderco midlock (a backlock in the middle spine) stronger than their liner locks and is more ambidextrous. Don't discount a midlock because its origins of a backlock are so "oldschool".
In any event you will pleased with any of them...just for fun here is some eye candy of my Cricket I took to Greece:

Check out the 2007 catalog, http://spyderco.com/catalog/2007SpydercoByrd.pdf the Cricket and the Dragonfly are coming out with a design. :D

I... really don't like those designs :(

Anyways, I'm leaning towards the Spin, unless my cheapo balisong breaks, then I may put my money into a decent bali and buy the Spin later... I dunno.

The Spin is a nice little knife, especially if you like having a secure two-finger grip. I prefer the three-finger grip I can get on the Cricket. That reverse-S blade on the Cricket may look strange, but it cuts like a demon!

All I can really suggest is singing the same old song: try to find someplace where you can handle all three, and see which one you like best.

Dragonfly! Sorry to throw another one into the mix. I love the Dragonfly, best little folder period!

I bought a Spyderco Spin after using it on a pass around for a week. I bought a Centofante 4 as well. But the Spin was a must have for me.
Talk about sheeple friendly! This unobtrusive blade is a delight to hold and use. Sharper than a straight razor when it arrived at my home. I was 9th in the pass around and the blade left here just as sharp as it arrived.
IT fit my XXL hand well for such a minute cutting tool. It clips into my T-Shirt pocket without notice!! Doesn't pull the shirt down or fall out when bending.
Outrageous cutting power. Go to the Pass Around forum and click on the Spin Centofante 4 pass hosted by FrankK I am sure you will find more opinions there on the spin as well. For $50.00 you can't go wrong. Spyderco hit the mark on this tough mini blade.
Peace.

Well, I think the Spin and Cricket have more of what I'm looking for (looks and key-chain-ability, among some smaller other things) than the other knives, so unless I decide to wait on those and get a balisong now, I'll be getting one of those knives sometime soon, thanks guys!

I have both the Spin and the Cricket. The Cricket is SE and I prefer it because it is slightly bigger, allowing for a more comfortable grip and easier opening and closing. The blade shape may not look "useful," but if you find yourself cutting zip ties, opening boxes and blister packaging, the Cricket will do this task admirably.

By the way, another knife you may want to look into is the Boker Subcom or Boker Wharcom (Wharncom?). Small, but 'feels' like a much larger knife due to the grip shape.

I bought a Cricket with file work from Vess for my wife and she loves it. I do not like the Navigator that I have as it has these very sharp-edged slots in the hilt that hurt my hand when I use it. Is that the discontinued version? If so, I can see why. I really, really like my little Spin, complete with its Spyderweb pattern on it. It is most friendly looking to non-knife people and it is small enough not to be seen as a threat by any but the MOST paranoid yet large enough to be really useful.
