Opinions on Spydie Military?

50/50.The Miliatary has a large enough blade that a 50/50 is very useful.

I would go with plain edge. It is the most useful edge type IMHO, and it will take care of 90% of daily cutting chores better than serrated.

u812'S suggestion of 50/50 probably isn't a bad suggestion, but rather than having 2 inches of plain edge and 2 of serrated, I would rather have the whole 4 inch one edge type.

I agree with Morgoth- I never buy serrated if I can help it. Unless you cut rope/netting all the time, a plain edge is more useful and easier to maintain.

Plain edges are good on anything!

I work retail, and all my use for knives is opening boxes, envelopes, cutting cardboard, and opening packages. Serrations don't offer me an advantage here. So I buy (and have never regretted) only plain edges.

Good luck!

I also like PE better but if you do need a SE sometimes the 50/50 works great on this knife.

Hi Guys
bit new to this Spydie thing, but have picked up a few for EDC over the last months.Question when did the steel in the Military blade change? I bought one on a recent trip to Aussie and it has the 440 blade
thanks
phil

It changed over a month ago I beleive. Don't worry about it though, 440V should hold an edge just as long as S30V or at least close to as long. S30V is just easier to sharpen once dull.

I recently traded and got a Military back in my greedy lil paws, I love it to death, but I was semi concerned about how little the liner engaged the blade, but I've tried my best to make it close, spine whack test and all.
The lock held in all situations.
Great knife, and I'll never be w/o 1. Ron
