I recently bought a Benchmade 690S for a decent price and got a free Benchmade sheath from the dealer as well. I absolutely love the knife and the lockup is solid. I was wondering what others think of the knife. How similar is it in design and construction to Elishewitz's custom models?

I really like my 690 cid.IMO it's a solid and classy looking knife.
Not sure about similarlity to his customs. I 'THINK' it is along the same lines as some of them, but a knife all it's own.
How 'decent' a price did you get?? Just real curious, hope you don't mind.
Have a good day,

I think the 690 compares VERY well to the custom version of this knife. I was able to compare them both (Beck's Cutlery) and found that the 690 is as well made (better with the BC1 coating) as the custom. I'm not sure of the custom's name or model number, but it is a dead ringer for the 690. The materials are identical and the fit and finish of the 690 is the best I've seen from Benchmade (that is saying a lot coming from me

) and IMHO equals or exceeds that of the custom version.

The biggest difference between a BM 690 and an Elishewitz custom is the that the custom has a titanium clip and the BM is stainless steel. Also the Pivot on the Elishewitz is his own special design, the BM is not quite the same. The fit and finish of the BM, however, is a bit more precise than that of an Elishwitz custom because the BM benefits from CNC machining.

Thanks for the info CPR, Anthony.
Teacher, I bought it at a local gunshop for $120.00.
