Opinions On The Best and Worst Season For Surviving?

best: spring/summer transition
worst: middle of winter
this based on the climate in ohio mostly, basically any temperate climate. fall would be second worst, not as much greens to eat.

In NW Arkansas I would have to say the worst time for me would be mid spring to early summer because of storms (Went camping on spring break once and came back to find out that half the High School was gone  ,damn tornados.)

Summer is ok, its hot but its humid so water isn't that much of a problem. But there are ticks a chiggers everywhere and some how even if I go swimming in a pool of DEET, put rubber bands around my shirt sleeves and pants legs, and tuck in my shirt and wear a tight belt I end up getting ticks in very uncomfortable places.

I would have to say the best time would be late fall to mid winter. In the Ozark mts shelter isnt that much of a problem as there are overhangs and shallow caves everywhere. Fire is a no-brainer as there are pine and cedar thickets everywhere. Although there is not as much green stuff to eat, you can rabbit bash to your hearts content (as long as there are no game wardens around). And best of all, the weather, cold and dry. (I much prefer being cold than being hot)

p.s. For those who dont know what "rabbit bashing" is, its hunting rabbits by getting close and throwing a club at them. Works well for squirls also.
