opinions on the Cadet Swiss Army Knife.

I EDC the Pioneer, but it's a very similar blade. As others have said before me, it has the awl in place of the nail file.

Well, that plus the Pioneer (93mm) is nine milometers longer than the Cadet (84mm). The extra size makes them feel different. I'm not saying one is better than the other. But they do feel different.

I carry mine almost daily. I sometimes carry my small tinker instead because of the small blade. If the cadet had a second blade instead of the nail file, it would be perfect. The Cadet is thinner than the small size tinker and easier to carry in the summer when wearing shorts. I use the tools on mine regularly. Good beer doesn't come with screw tops and the bottle opener is a great tool. The tip of the can opener can be used on most phillips head screws.

Dang, I think I've just about talked myself into buying another one.

I think if the Soldier had a pair of scissors in addition to the 4 tools it now has, it would be the perfect SAK.

I have a Cadet and I like it, I just wish it had an awl like the pioneer. I picked up a Micro-Farmer from SwissBianco which is really a Cadet II with an added saw, the weight and size difference is barely noticable. Yet, I find myself carrying my small Tinker instead.

I really like having the large and and small screwdrivers. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Cadet the smallest Alox model which has both screwdriver tools?

I was thinking about the Swiss Army Cadet, but ended up with the Swiss Army Electrician.

The thickness compared to the Classic Alox and the SwissTool Spirit Plus.

Now, thanks to this thread I'm eyeing the Victorinox Swiss Army Tinker line. Hmmm. . .

The Cadet is my favorite SAK bar none. The Black and Grey went nut$$s there for a while, but the new ones can be had a bit cheaper. (New ones do not have the keyring attachment point, which I like, as I ground mine off my old/carry/silver one.)
