Opinions on the Kershaw R.A.M.

OH cool. OK yah if I buy it i can try bending the clip. So if I do put it under water, should I make sure it is dry and then leave it out so that it wont rust?

I think I may get this knife then.

Unless you really need to clean the knife, I would suggest taking the scales off before you starting sanding under water. You'll reduce the chance of sanding the frame and messing up the finish.

So you mean actually stick the knife under water, and then use any sandpaper (like from walmart) and just sand the part underneath the clip down?

Any other way without having to put in under water? If i dont do that, will it really rip my jeans?

Pretty much. Just keep it wet and use the black wet-dry sandpaper (220-grit should work very quickly). It's easier if you take the scales off first.

It's been a while since I used the stock scales, but they really aren't too rough. You can always just see how you like it and sand it later if need be.

After you've carried it a few days and decide you don't like the texture
of the G-10 scales, just shoot me an email and I'll walk you through it
step by step.

Here's one I polished the scales on:

Wow dude thanks so much! You are so helpful!! I will see how I like the texture first.

This is such a great forum. Thanks a bunch everyone!

I think its a great knife the locking system is a lot like the benchmade axis lock..its a solid knife and perfect size for EDC..I actually scored 2 NIB for under 30 bucks each...go me!

Yes it was and lightning struck twice...got both within 2 weeks of each other..actually i think i got one of the rams for something like 26 bucks...i got really lucky on both..

Here's one I polished the blade on. (and the stop-pin, screws, pivot) :D

Hey, I polished the hardware also, so........:p

I'll make a deal with ya, you polish me a blade and I'll do
a set of scales for ya. Of course my end will be easier,
but your my Pop, and that's what Pops are for. :D

It took me longer to press the studs out than it did to polish it.
The little wooden press I made fixed it up in no time.

Man is it just me or does the Kershaw R.A.M. look really aesthetically pleasing? I like that little hump on the blade and I think it is one of the more cool looking folders out there.

I love the R.A.M. get it. It's true that the flipper can be difficult to engage if your touching the Hawk lock, but once you get the method down the flipper is so smooth you'll be really impressed. Even though its a not a huge folder this thing feels much larger than it is. The fit and finish is great. If it hadnt had kershaw written all over it I could almost see it fitting into the ZT line. Overall a great knife for edc or other use.

The only knife I have that sees more pocket time than the RAM is a swiss army knife, and I always have it on me, :D and it's kind of hard to beat always.

Thanks to Mr. Dobson I no longer have to worry about any rough G10 ;) , although admittedly I didn't feel it was too hard on my pockets to begin with.

Fantastic value and easy for my med. hand to manipulate! Fastest of all my folders to get into action!
