Opinions on the new Fallkniven f1x?

Did they make the tip stronger in X series? Broken tip is my nightmare

I dont think so. It's the same exact bladeshape as on the pro series. In other words a very very strong tip. Much stronger than the original F1.

You are so right on the grip being secure. Perhaps this is FK's pure intention which also aligns with the overall tactical sense. I think the X-series main strength is its pure focus on functionality. Sorry for not pointing this out to potential buyers - this knife will not slip out your hands, even when used in more slippery conditions like slicing/hunting or heavy rain.

I was thinking of passing this knife on to someone else... but this got me thinking. Perhaps I underestimate the versatility that it actually provides.

I agree and I'm quite happy with my F1XB. I purchased it to take on long motorcycle trips and always wear gloves when riding so I thought the rough handle a good idea, as well as in wet, slippery conditions. It's a beast for its size and I like the Zytel sheath, it works well, IMO. I also have one of their A1s with the leather sheath and satin finish, very nice knife as well and also built like a tank! I find the build quality excellent and the blade composition and strength also excellent. It's my first knife with a convex blade geometry and for survival purposes, it seems ideal, particularly in the case of the A1 with its heft.

The guard looks like something that causes potential hot spot. Why is the tang exposed so much? Lower production costs? They still can't make kydex sheath for their knives for the price? :)
The tang is exposed for Hitting and not damaging thermo handle. I only buy knives with exposed Full Tang because I use them for Bushcrafting. Hitting, Chopping, and splitting all require Striking the knife with a nice sized piece of wood. And if It is a Fallkniven, Benchmade, Bark River, etc... It will do no harm to the knife. Very useful, especially in Crafting a handmade bow, fishing pole, Fork, Spoon, Cutting dovetails for ladders. Knives are very useful tools if you know how to use them. You want to catch a bass or a trout find Walnut, Ash, or Maple. I promise the Maple wont slip from your hands. LOL or Wrap the end in Tarred Bank Line. Never in the Bush without it. Hell I never leave home without a Wrap of Tarred Bank Line. UV resistant, weather resistant, Slip proof knots, Stuff is legendary for the price.
