Did they make the tip stronger in X series? Broken tip is my nightmare
You are so right on the grip being secure. Perhaps this is FK's pure intention which also aligns with the overall tactical sense. I think the X-series main strength is its pure focus on functionality. Sorry for not pointing this out to potential buyers - this knife will not slip out your hands, even when used in more slippery conditions like slicing/hunting or heavy rain.
I was thinking of passing this knife on to someone else... but this got me thinking. Perhaps I underestimate the versatility that it actually provides.
The tang is exposed for Hitting and not damaging thermo handle. I only buy knives with exposed Full Tang because I use them for Bushcrafting. Hitting, Chopping, and splitting all require Striking the knife with a nice sized piece of wood. And if It is a Fallkniven, Benchmade, Bark River, etc... It will do no harm to the knife. Very useful, especially in Crafting a handmade bow, fishing pole, Fork, Spoon, Cutting dovetails for ladders. Knives are very useful tools if you know how to use them. You want to catch a bass or a trout find Walnut, Ash, or Maple. I promise the Maple wont slip from your hands. LOL or Wrap the end in Tarred Bank Line. Never in the Bush without it. Hell I never leave home without a Wrap of Tarred Bank Line. UV resistant, weather resistant, Slip proof knots, Stuff is legendary for the price. The guard looks like something that causes potential hot spot. Why is the tang exposed so much? Lower production costs? They still can't make kydex sheath for their knives for the price?![]()
It’s actually their convex, albeit not a true full convex, but the F1X to my knowledge never had a secondary bevel. I just ordered one and they made one in Elmax! I prefer full tangs for the simple fact they are more robust. Fallkniven specifically designed the X series to be tougher than their standard or Pro versions, or that is the manufacturer’s claim. It really depends on your preference and use for the knife if the full tang is actually needed or not or maybe some simply prefer the aesthetic. I hear the fit and finish is very high and consistent so I cannot wait to receive mine. Just thought I’d share that even though this is a very old post.Modified scandi grind with a secondary bevel? That finger guard/choil is reminiscent of a Mule.
Would prefer the full flat grind of the original and a smaller choil. The removable handle scales and the new sheath are an improvement IMO. Better lanyard hold as well but at the expense of the original butt design.
