ive been looking for a small indestructable chopper to take with me on 4wheeling adventures. most of the cutting i do consists of small trees, downed limbs and TONS of brush. the reason im considering the hatchet is the fact that its a lot smaller then other tomahawk/axe offerings out there and its A LOT more affordable too, do you guys think that the hatchet will be the best tool for the job?

also what kind of sheath does it come with?

thanks

First off Welcome to the Busse Forum :)

Just so you know, I don't own a PH, however, I handled one a lot during a recent show. It is one nice hatchet, it is definitely on my list of Busses to buy. My impressions of it were that it is small enough to easily carry but still with enough weight to chop well.

Any of the Busse Knives will fit that bill, however, it sounds like you are on the right track with the Hatchet.

Stick around, there are several others that have the hatchet and will be able to give you the rundown.

I got the LE Hatchet and don't want to ruin the nice finish.

I can say the sheath leaves a lot to be desired. The hatchet is not secure at all in it. It is very loose and can easily fall out when turned upside down. I believe it is kydex lined, with a Cordura shell on the ouside. The kydex is not tight at all.

It is held in place by two snap-on buttons. Don't know the exact term to use, so someone please correct me. They are adjustable and attach to the sheath with velcro.

The PH should be perfect!

TONS of brush

Frankly, I think any small knife would have trouble taking care of a lot of brush efficiently. A machete would be more suited to this. However, as you have said you need something compact, the PH would do as well as a small knife/hatchet can against brush.

BTW, I have handled the PH quite a bit, and it feels like it can chop a whole lot better than it looks like it can in pics.

I will post a review on Paul's Hatchet this weekend:p
