Opinions on the Scotch dispenser?

I am really curious about what owners think about their Scotch dispensers? You almost never see pics of them, or posts about them. I have heard some say it is their favorite edc, and others who could not stand them.

Thoughts? Do you like them, love them or hate them. I especially would love to see pics, in hand pics, in use pics etc.

It seems like the design could either be extremely comfortable in the hand, or not depending on how it fit.

Thanks

There was a thread on this same topic a few days ago. Look for posts made by me to find it.

In that thread, Recondo4u who is stationed in Afghanistan talks about how great it is. I would listen to him, as he probably has field tested it in ways I would never dream of......

im not recondo4 or whatever but as far as the Busse SD goes, its my favorite knife i have. Its the knife I NEVER leave home without. the knife that you will use, the knife that will be there when you need it, save your life, etc, is going to be the one you always carry. so the busse sd is my sharp piece of INFI that i always have. my favorite knife. feels great in the hand. and with a rainwalker sheath... you simply cant beat this piece. no reason not to have a busse sd and carry it daily. they disappear on your person throughout the day.

Hey, i dont have one and i said the same thing, it could be a very good design or catistrfic (spelt that wrong...) but the great thing about busse is its easy to trade and sell knives if your really not into them. buy it and if you like it great, if you dont trade it or sell it... thats what i do. i got an AD didnt like the choil so small and stuck with my GW.

Another nice thing about the SD is that one can still buy the black one at BCS.:thumbup:

BTW, I just received my SD Kydex Neck Sheaths from David E today. I own several of his BraveHeart IWB holsters, and like those, workmanship and attention to detail for these sheaths are off the charts.

Lunde, you can't show a sweet pic of a SD, and say you just got a sweet sheath for it, then not give us a picture of the sheath, that's just mean.

thanks Gusthefish, I went back and looked at the pics and the posts.

I made myself a sheath and started carrying it as soon as I got it. I really did not like it at first as it just felt funny in my hand. I have really changed my mind though. It is small enough to forget you have it one, but still big enough for some heavy cutting. I really like how it feels in the hand now and I wear it at work every day. After using it for while now I really like it.

it was the most odd feeling knife i have ever felt & sold it promptly

YMMV

Well... everyone has their opinions... and I thing it is the ugliest knife I have ever seen!

Yes... perhaps this is blasphemy... But it almost seems like a bet that Jerry made over a huge bottle of JWB with his brother. "Hey... I bet I can make a knife that looks like a Scotch Tape Dispenser... and the HOGS will BUY it!... how much ya wanna bet???"

Naturally... Jerry won the bet. It is an awkward looking knife, but hey... it is INFI baby!!! :D

Hmm...
some differing opinions here, thats what i like to see.
Could someone post pics of it IN-HAND so i could understand the grip a bit more?
having never held one i must say it looks a tad uncomfortable...

[EDIT] So, go ahead and ignore me, i found that other thread too

Only thing is I don't want a black one. Yours is the first one I've seen with a non-black coating. Guess I'll have to wait around until one shows on the exchange.

Some have mentioned throwing it, How well does this work out?

I ordered two of them. The Sage one is shown above. The other one is Green.

I held one at the Oregon knife show for the first time last weekend and got to think'n about some mods to it, so I bought one. When I got home, I stripped it and it had a great finish on it. I'm going to remove the ring and make a subhilt handle then add some micarta to lengthen out the handle. I then bought two more from the company store before they ran out, I think they will work out on my folder project also, we will see.........

OHHHH, scotch TAPE dispenser! I've been trying to figure out how this knife relates to the JWB for quite some time now.

ha, greyman, that I was wondering for a while too.

Randucci, if it was straight behind the ring I would have jumped all over them. (or if I could bend it straight without breaking it). I actually like the finger ring look, either front finger ring (aka BARF) or a pinkie ring style. seems like it would be a good starting point for modding.

Yeah, at first I wondered where the liquor came out :)

I kept a Muddy SD with my BB Coyote Tan Kydex sheath but 'gifted' the other to my niece in Charleston. Is is Green and I gave it to her at her St. Pats party and we finally had to take it from around her neck and hang it on the wall 'cause she was gettin' way to happy with it later in the party. I have found a way to grip the SD that makes it very useful even for fine work so it is on the desktop and gets into the housework rotation occasionally. I do like the unusual look of the knife but I think smaller hands would find it more useful than in my paws.

Chuddy - please post a picture of the Randall sheaths you have with a busse SD in one of them. Im interested in buying one possibly.

Lunde - i LOVE the sage SD. I wanted to buy one but the BCS didnt have any in stock, just the Black. I now have one that I carry everywhere and one that I keep in the safe:D

You know, a "Bad" version of that might be kinda unique. The 3 rear holes inlayed with wood or some sweet looking Micarta or something...
