Opinions- with this handle

[Cardinal Knife]

Hey guys made this knife for a friend for Christmas I don't know what the material is just had it in my scrap bin so I don't have a sample piece to test with I usually use danish oil not sure if I should use the colored stuff to give this a little bit more of a darker Color or if I should just go natural. What ya think?

Looks like some type of Maple burl. I like it as it is. Sand to 1000+ and buff lightly.

That looks great. I also think it's maple burl. I have a couple pieces with some spalting mixed in like that too.
