Hey guys i ran across this knife while looking for a cheap beater knife with decent steel.

(( no links to non-BFC dealers ))

I looked on other sites and it was 40-60$ on the other big knife sites. I dont figure this is real d2 and the only info i can get from searching the forum is that the wortac2 made by timberline in early 2000s was a decent knife. Nothing in the last 15 years ive seen posted about this company that i could find. Thanks for the help and sorry if its against the rules to post a link i will remove it. Sort of new but i know your not supposed to name companys i believe, not sure about links.

I don't know if I would trust it. The other possibility is they are trying to get rid of inventory. I would just pony up and get a RAT1 or RAT2 for $40 - $60 bucks.

for $10 you should just get it and let us know.

is this the same one? the one in the video came in a white box

saw another video of it, looks like shops are just trying to get rid of excess inventory. $40 in another video i saw on youtube. amazon has it for 20.

The link was Webpage not available anyway. Decent company, nice knife, ancient history at this point.

OK, thanks for the video. Doesn't look "Wegner" to me. Spots done by someone who never saw a leopard (chui) in real life. Chinese fake.

I already have a rat, although not in d2. I personally dont like the rat 1. To large and heavy for edc for me, seems like it would make a great camp knife though, built very well and simple. I was interested in this knife bc it was 10$, you know sort of the y start jin02 real d2 steel for 16$ idea. Just something with great blade steel for super low price. I figured it was false advertising when i first saw it, but the same would be thought about the y start and its real d2 so ya never know

If I am buying a (new) knife for $10, it will be an opinel.

Otherwise (even a "beater") I will want something that can at least take a hit. I am not putting my safety on the line for a few dollars...
Peace of mind is priceless.

That being said, the steel is garbage if it doesn't get a good heat treat. If the heat treat is bad, the alloy will perform like a much lower quality mix. I would shell out more money for a lower end steel with an optimal heat treat than a higher gradealloy with a shody/questionable heat treat any day of the week.

Think about it in terms of cars, if you bought a brand new Acura NSX, but it had a Honda Civic (naturally aspirated) motor you wouldn't have an NSX, but a car that looked like one...
