Optics....

I use an older model Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 mounted to a LaRue QD. It's a bit overkill but gets the job done. Looking at Aimpoint or ACOGs next.

Maqua,

I have that Nightforce 2.5x10 and I also have another newer Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x32. The original that you have is a discontinued (to the public) and very sought after. I am gonna hold on to mine!!

Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I would bump this one back up for some additional input on optic preferences.

I purchased a new AR 5.56 and am looking for suggestions on optics based on your experience. I have an Aimpoint Comp M3 and Accupoint TR24 on two of my other AR's but my eyes aren't getting any younger, and would like to reach out to 3-400 yards, so I am considering a 1-6 Accupoint TR25 or Vortex 1-6 RZR HD II. Would love to hear your opinion on others too.

I had a chance to look thru the TR25 yesterday at LGS and it's nice but that damn flying saucer on top that regulates the amount of light just looked weird to me, but I do like the recticle. I have also heard the Vortex is too heavy but haven't had a chance to handle one yet.

I am also planning on adding Troy folding sights but would like to hear how the newer Magpul sights are working out since they are less expensive.

I use a Leupold Mark AR 3-9 x 40 designed for the 556 round on my Colt M4...seems to do great out to 400 yards....says it is good for up to 600.

Vortex recently released the strike eagle. Its a 1-6x24 scope with AR bdc reticle. It is a less expensive option to the razor and i believe it to be quite a bit lighter. This is the scope i have chosen to be on my tavor when i have worked up the funds.

That said i also acquired a NF 2.5-10x32 and love it like no other. I find the variable range very adaptable for everything. It resides on my DD M4A1 and it definitely does more than i require of it.

Just an FYI regarding the Nightforce. http://www.scout.com/military/snipe...2--nightforce-nxs-2-5-10-x-24-limited-release

With a PSV-14, when appropriate.

That's what I'm talking about!

WOW - Sold my pristine 2.5-10x24 early this year for HUGE$$$ and replaced it with a pair of NXS 2.5-10X 32's. People used to gobble the 2.5-10x24's on the secondary market, but the outcry to bring them back seemed to work!! I find the "x32" much more forgiving with the bigger objective and the couple ounces and inches never bothered me.

Nikon Prostaff 3x9 on the 10/22

Burris Mtac 1x4 or Vortex Sparc II on the AR.

I had a bushnell holosight on my ar and loved the openness and field of view. Ideal for moving targets and two eyes open shooting and fast target acquisition, it was intended as a coyote truck gun....Oly arms shorty with a collapsible stock.

The stupid thing took N cells,....argh....what a pain. It also would drain the battery just sitting so whenever I pulled it out if the vault it was dead. Damn!

Traded it for a Leupold cqb sight, the Leupold is nice but I will eventually go back to a holo type sight with AA or other cheap batteries. Btw, the holo dot was a couple moa at 100 so very serious tack driving was out of the question with no magnification.
