Optimum blade length/shape; what's YOURS?

4-5", tanto or clip(ala spydie). As much use as the tanto is, I need belly once in a while. 4" fits my hand, 5" works best for my style on defense(at least in my sparring sessions).

EDIT: just adding, I use my fb03 lum tanto all day at work. I do lots of packing at work, and love the design for that.

My favorite EDC is a Microtech Socom Elite clip point. Next fav is a Small Sebenza or a Benchmade 941. That sort of says it all.

I flirted with Tantos for a bit, and will probably add one or two to the collection for fun (CRK NICA 400?), but for work Clip point is my standard go to design.

My favorite shape is the modified wharncliff, which is almost a spearpoint. The drop point is next. As to sharping the convex edge, I have a swamprat collection and it is so easy to sharpen these guys useing just sandpaper and a mousepad it is unbelievable!! Maybe it's the steel, I dont' know. No matter what I do to these things a swipe on the mentioned tools and I'm back in bizness!! I use 400 grit paper (I am looking around for 600) and the mousepad. It doesn't even seem to matter what angle I use, it all turns out good!! I've also used my sharpmaker for one or two swipes just for good luck! I have no armhair, if that tells you anything! ;)
