Options on a nice pocket knife

Hi SCRAGE
I have some small Case pocketknives on sale in the dealer section. I have Stockman , Mini Copperhead, Baby Butterbean, Tiny Toothpick, and a Trapper all have Stag handles and are made with Case Tru Sharp Stainless Steel.
Thank you
Paul

While it does have both blades side by side, I found it's hard to beat a mini-trapper for a great combination of ease of carry and enough blade for most uses. My favorite is a Case chestnut bone I picked up unintentionally in an online auction years ago. I jumped on it in the last few minutes thinking it was a full sized trapper only to realize after I'd won it that it was a mini. Best mistake I ever made.

Peanuts are a lot of knife for their tiny size. Very easy to carry and as long as you only use them as cutting tools, surprisingly capable.

I have a Remington Lumberjack, basically a muskrat with two different blades. Itl's a bigger knife, but carries well. I don't like knives that feel get all cattywampus in my pocket.

(not my pic, but my knife)

I don't like knives that feel get all cattywampus in my pocket. All of those mentioned above carry extremely well. As much as I like stag, I've found most stag stocked blades seem to carry a bit heavy in the pocket for me.

Nothing wrong with Boker, their original German made Tree Brand, their Magnum (China, Taiwan, etc) or their Arbolito line (Argentina), other than I've always had a heck of a time sharpening some of their German carbon steel blades. I can freehand a shaving edge on my other carbon steel or stainless knives with Arkansas stones, but the many of the Boker carbons for some reason have always been difficult for me and I don't know why.

The canoe pattern as mentioned by others is rides pretty good in a pocket. I have both the Boker carbon that I've actually been able to get sharp and a Boker Magnum in stainless that came shaving sharp in that pattern. I sold the stag Boker Tree Brand in the middle of this pic along with a few other stag Bokers to fund some gun buying. Loved the look, but carried too heavy in the pocket.

You might look into buying two or three patterns that appeal to you in Rough Rider knives and see how they carry and work for you for a little bit. Once you find the pattern that really meshes with you go get a nice one in that pattern. Case, Queen, Schatt & Morgan, are all good knives. At least they have been in the past for me. Haven't bought a new one of those in at least three years.

Not glamorous, but really handy and easy to pocket is the Victorinox Swiss Army Tinker. You will have to touch up the edge just a tad more often, but the sharpen with minimal touch up and hold an edge for general cutting for a reasonable time. Just not as long as say your average Case, Queen, etc.

Remember to post a pic of what you finally select and maybe a bit about why that one is the one you like.

My very good friend and fellow forum member bought me the Northfield model #72 UN-X-LD knife for Christmas and man...that thing is a beauty! and the carbon steel blade has developed an awesome patina. Thanks Rob.
