Options on this sheath

I've been thinking about the whole concept of caring a small fixed blade in a pocket..A potential problem is pulling the shieth partly out inadvertently with the knife and then safely putting it back in without cutting your pants or worse. My thoughts were to look at gun holsters and see how they solved issues like this...
Rough leather on back seems like the answer to the first but figuring out the details how to 'channel' the blade on insertion safely??? Maybe the answer is in the lining..
being that I pocket carry daily a pistol. most leather or kydex ones have a hook shape or edge that hooks the pocket so gun comes out fast sheath doesnt.

I wouldnt try to put the firearm chambered back in my pocket and resheath. I'd take the sheath out and reholster and replace in pocket

I also daily pocket carry smaller fixed blades. 4" and under blades. I use the thumb method. I pull blade up with my hand and hold sheath with my thumb. works great on kydex and plastic type sheath. on leather depends on how loose it fits. some work great others are too snug, so requires two hands or put on my belt.

I don't hesitate to, nothing can happen if your finger isn't in the guard, (not saying you don't) It amazes me how many people I see leave their finger in the guard, if you don't intend to pull the trigger the finger shouldn't be in the guard.

I use the pocket sheath in my back pocket just to carry the knife. If I use it I'll pull the rig out, remove the knife and set the sheath down. Put it in the door of my truck. Set it on the table next to me while at home. It's not critical that I sheath the knife while it's in my pocket, it's just an easy grab and go.

I carry this little fixed blade in my left front pocket.

That is a TEK brand clip and holds the sheath in the pocket quite well. (The Chinese copies don't work well.) The clip is offset to the side of the sheath, because that helps hold it into the corner of the pocket and out of the way. The sheath was wet molded and then dried in an oven for about 45 min, so it is fairly stiff. Reinserting the knife hasn't been a problem. My knife has a 2 1/2 inch blade and is 5 3/4 inches overall. It's small size makes pocket carry easier, but longer blades can be done.

O.B.

Old Biker it looks like that's the best idea I've seen so far commercially. If I was using one I would have the clip a little extended...even past the top of the handle so it would be a deep carry and almost totally out of sight except for the clip. If concealment was the priority and not convenience. I want folks to look hard to see it lol!

Front pocket carry points the tip of the knife (or gun) at your thigh when you sit. The sheath must be able to protect you. I typically throw a fixed blade in my back pocket or slide longer blades under my belt on the left side at an angle for short term situations. I would like to carry a fixed blade more and Makael's sheath here would make that possible front or back pocket and safely IMO.
