micarta might take an orange dye, but who knows what color it would become.
you'd be better off sandblasting some grivory and painting it.

I acetoned the BK2 first to clean it, then I used this.

Seems like anything in the brown spectrum does well. ..red, brown...orange should prob do well, but it wont be that bright solid orange, more like a dull matte orange. This is just a guess from doing other colors. I have never tried orange. Fixing to try yellow and purple though!

The lighter the color, the longer the soak. Could be looking at a few hrs in some stubborn cases, just check em every 15 to 30 min

I'm guessing not as good, but I have used this paint before and it works well. I can redo it if need be, but any orange left would help visibility.
I also wouldn’t use it for food, as I would use the factory black. No coating is probably good for food, but Id use the black coated if I needed to.

I’m going to store it in my truck for more utility use. I love to rockhound as well. So I’d use it to pick a stubborn rock from the ground if need be.

My vote is for G10 handles and then some of your sexy orange kydex to carry it in.

This gives me a idea for a BK3... it would make it real easy to find and you can always repaint it. Maybe even toss on a set of the Firefly glow in the dark scales.
