Orange knife handles, more "acceptable"?

My "work" knife (being the one I use mainly at work) is a yellow Tasman Salt. I'm certain that the bright handles are the reason that I never get any flack about it. It might as well be a box cutter/utility knife in their eyes.
 
It all depends on where you are, and who your with.If you are at a airport in the USA or a police station and pull out a knife, I do not think it matters what color grip you have.You are headed into deep sh trouble.If you are with knife nuts in the woods then stare at the grips and decide your favorite colors.Many people feel very uneasy around knives and guns.Many people do not share a love for knives or guns.Stay out of trouble, and avoid code orange or black.Do not flash your bright orange knife or black one at the mall either.

Yes, a knife with an orange handle is less scary to most people.

Orange is also very practical, it’s easier to see in the dark, the water, when dropped in a field or a woodland.

Each person experiences colour/color differently due to many aspects (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ba-1971-0107.ch005). This can be seen with colour blind people. They will respond very differently then others would to the same colour. The cultural environment also plays an important role. With that said, safety equipment (jackets, badges, reflective straps) are usually yellow/orange as far as I have noticed because it is bright and easy to spot when there is an accident. So IMO the interpretation in todays society due to the environment we find ourselves in orange/yellow is a more acceptable colour for a handle.
